Finnish Embassy in Baghdad suspends operations

The Finnish Embassy in Baghdad will suspend its operations until further notice starting on Tuesday 17 March 2020.

The Embassy’s opportunities of operation have essentially deteriorated because a curfew has been declared and because of the coronavirus epidemic. The operation and maintenance of the mission, located in a high-risk area, is subject to special requirements.

Due to the poor security situation in Iraq, the Ministry for Foreign has recommended against travel to the country for years.
