Minister Tavio to lead trade mission to Singapore and Malaysia

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will make an export promotion visit to Singapore and Malaysia on 19–23 May. The Minister will be accompanied by a delegation of some 30 companies.

The visit aims to promote the business opportunities of Finnish companies in Southeast Asia, where there is growing interest in Finnish technologies, sustainable development solutions and digital services. The visit will also highlight Finland as an attractive country for investments. Finland is profiling itself in the region as a stable and predictable investment environment with high-quality competence, top research and commitment to sustainable development.

In Singapore, the Minister will meet Singapore’s minister responsible for sustainable development, the environment and foreign trade. He will also have discussions with local investors and businesses and participate in the SEMICON SEA trade fair, a prominent semiconductor industry event.

“Singapore is one of the world’s most innovative and open economies and an important gateway to the Southeast Asian market. Finland has strong expertise in clean energy, circular economy and smart urbanisation. These are areas where Singapore is actively seeking partnerships,” Minister Tavio says.

In Malaysia, Minister Tavio will visit Kuala Lumpur and Penang. He will meet the Malaysian Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry and the Minister of Digital, among others. The programme also includes joint events for Finnish businesses and visits to local technology clusters, such as the Penang semiconductor cluster.

“Malaysia is seeing strong economic development, and the country’s investments in clean transition, digitalisation and industrial modernisation offer diverse opportunities for Finnish high-technology companies,” says Minister Tavio.

The Minister will travel with a delegation of some 30 companies, which represent the visit’s target sectors.
