Minister Tavio to attend OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris
The Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD will be held in Paris on 3–4 June 2025. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will represent Finland at the meeting. The main theme of the meeting is stronger growth through rules-based trade, investment and innovation.

On the first day of the meeting the ministers will discuss ways to strengthen open markets and develop the rules-based trade system. In addition, the ministers will consider innovative approaches to economic policy. The topics on the second day’s agenda are OECD’s external relations, the digital economy and artificial intelligence. This year the Ministerial Council Meeting will be chaired by Costa Rica.
“Finland stresses the importance of the rules-based system. The OECD has a key role in this. Spreading the standards developed by the OECD also outside the organisation improves the preconditions for Finnish companies to compete in the world markets,” Minister Ville Tavio says.
The task of the OECD is to produce research data and analyses about economic and social policy. It offers recommendations, standards and best practices for its members and other parties for policy-making that supports prosperity, equality, opportunities and wellbeing. The OECD promotes multilateral solutions to global challenges. Finland utilises the OECD’s research data and analyses broadly for policy planning in different sectors.
