Minister Haavisto to attend meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs and meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Council

On Friday 4 March 2022, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will attend a meeting of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

The meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs will discuss the situation in Ukraine. Finland and Sweden, which are NATO partner countries, and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell have been invited to participate in the discussion.

After the NATO meeting, Minister Haavisto will attend a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, which will continue the discussion on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Foreign ministers will also hold discussions with Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly, UK Secretary of State Liz Truss and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
