Antti Satuli, Secretary of State: Foreign Ministry revises operations
The reform concerning both the organisational structure and the functions of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland come into force on 1 May. "It is ideal that our reform is anchored to the new Cabinet term. This way the internal reform of the foreign service and government policies compliment each other", said Antti Satuli, Secretary of State, at a press conference in Helsinki on Monday.
The objective of the reform is to improve the political and communicational coherence, decrease hierarchy within the organisation and to streamline the functions of the missions. The reform includes a comprehensive revision of the Ministry's payroll system. In 2010, the Foreign Ministry sees itself as a "flexible, transparent and service-oriented organisation", said Satuli. The spirit of cooperation is emphasised within the ministry as well as in cooperation with other government offices.
